Yesterday we spent some time in Washington DC. Today we head to the Eastern shore of Virginia. The Eastern shore is a long peninsula on the eastern side of Virginia. It has a bunch of small towns some by the Chesapeake Bay and others near the Atlantic Ocean. It truly is a hidden gem and there i plenty to see and do.

| About 20 minutes from the bunker is the bayside town of Cape Charles. It is a charming little town. This is a view of the beach there. |

| The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel used to have an area where you could get out and take a stroll and watch ships pass by. It is currently closed as they are building new tunnels. |

Car: Route US13 is the main highway that traverses the Eastern Shore
Air: Norfolk (ORF) is the closest airport and is about a 45 minute drive to the locations mentioned here. Newport News Airport (PHF) is the next closest airport an is about a 90 minute drive

Train: Amtrak has a stop in Norfolk which is a 45-60 minute drive from the Eastern Shore.

In the 7 years I lived in Virginia, only once did I cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and visit the Eastern Shore. I wish I'd done it more. It was a lovely day out.
ReplyDeleteThere's another place I don't think I've been. Maybe. But, if I was I was 13 and didn't pay attention to our drive from the east coast to CA. We'd been gone a year, and I just wanted to be back home!
