Super Saturday Snapshots - March 1, 2014

Amanda and I are so happy that it is the weekend as it has been a long week for us both. We are linking up with Melinda at West Metro Mommy for Super Saturday Snapshots. Earlier in the week when I was looking for the photos for our Masaya Volcano travel review post (read about and see the pictures here) I came across a ton of old digital photos that I haven't seen in quite a few years. It was a lot of fun to scroll through them and take a trip down memory lane.

For this week's photos I wanted to share some of the photos I took on our family farm in Australia back in 2001. The farm was pretty small and we had about 75 acres. We had some cattle, sheep, and various types of poultry. There were also two goats that came with the farm when my parents bought it in 1996 and the occasional kangaroo that bounced onto the property ever so often. It was more of a hobby farm as it we did not generate a whole lot of income but it was a lot of fun to have the animals and have plenty of space to move around. Here are some of my favourite photos from the farm.

Shellie feeding Bessie the cow. The cows loved eating bread as a treat and Bessie was one of Shellie's favourite cow.

Enzo (our Dachshund) loved to wander around the farm with us so he could see what we were up to. Sometimes the grass was higher than he was so you wouldn't see him until he was really close.

The back of the poultry coop and some of our paddocks on the farm.

Shellie "driving" the old tractor (it still worked even though it was ancient) with the dogs all wanting to climb on for a ride.

Bessie the cow had some great facial expressions which made for some great photos. She was probably hoping I was bringing here some bread.

A lamb and its mum playing in the paddock. Shellie named the lamb Amanda which is my wife's name.

This is Garfield the cat. He lived to be about 18 years old and was as tough as nails. He was a friendly cat who also loved bread and even survived a bite from a eastern brown snake.  He was probably 17 or so when this photo was taken of him on the rooftop.

It was great taking a trip down memory lane and sharing some of the photos of the farm and some of my favourite family pets. Who was your favourite family pet when you were younger?

  3. I grew up on a farm (much smaller than the one you show), and couldn't wait to get to the city. But I feel nostalgic whenever I see farm photos. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

  7. Bessie looks full of character, and I like Enzo the working dog. Nice to have another Aussie join in on Saturdays.
