His and Her Weekend Shenanigans

We had a crazy busy weekend so without further ado, here are our --

Sami's Shenanigans

**For those who are new to our blog - WELCOME - purple is Amanda, red is Sean, blue is for both of us. We hope it helps make it less confusing for our readers to know who is talking and sharing. :) **

Friday:
After such a long week, both of us were exhausted by Friday night. I knit a little and watched a few of the shows on my DVR. Sean watched some episodes of shows on Netflix. We crashed early.

Saturday:
Errands, errands, errands! We ran around for 5 hours -
shopping for Homecoming Spirit Week outfits for me -
exchanging some clothes that I bought online that were too big (yay for clothes that are too big!) -
buying some items for my "You've Been Boo'ed" gifts for tomorrow (click here to see what I am talking about) -
buying Boss's Day gifts (it's October 16 so I went ahead and picked their gifts from Harry and David - went with Moose Munch S'mores popcorn).
Lots and lots of running around.  But we got to have a fun night at a favorite restaurant with a coworker and good friend, her husband, and her parents. The food was yummy and we laughed a lot.
I also knit a little more on Saturday night. I can't wait to show you guys what I have been working on.

Sunday:
I went out to play disc golf and had a decent round. I was driving home and saw a dog walking down the road. It looked lost so I turned around to see if I could approach it and see if it had a collar and tags. When I approached the dog I could see it was in pretty rough shape as it was missing most of its fur, was extremely skinny, and had gunk in its eyes. I didn't know what to do but she let me pick her up so I put her in the car. A gentleman called to me and said he called animal control and they got my info and said they would call back. After a few minutes I hadnt heard from them so I took her home.
Our dog got along with the dog so Amanda and I talked about it and thought it was best to get her cleaned up and see a vet to see what was wrong with her. We were hoping that she would need just a little TLC and that we could nurse her back to health. We went to Petsmart's grooming department and the ladies there were super nice and suggested we take her straight to the vet across the street. The vet office took us in and examined her. After a while they came in to talk to us (they were really busy) and let us know that the dog was pretty sick, was around 14 years old and the testing and treatment would cost at least $1000. We couldn't afford that amount so we had to make the heart wrenching decision to surrender her to animal control. We aren't sure what will happen to her but at least she is not wandering around the streets lost, hungry, and confused. She is in a safe place, away from all the rain we got today and from all the cars that drive on that road. It was a tough day emotionally but we know we did everything we could and she is in better care than she was yesterday when I found her.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun and exciting?

Happy Monday,

Her October Currently

Hello to the month of October and the fall season! I love October because it means fall has started and the leaves will change, the weather gets cooler, and I can take my sweaters and scarves out of storage. Yay!!

Because a new month has started, it is time to link up with Farley to share what I am "Currently" doing.

Listening - Say Yes to the Dress is such good background noise on a Sunday morning when you need something to listen to that you don't have to pay a lot of attention to.

Loving - Spirit Week!! I teach at a middle school but we always participate in the high school's Homecoming Spirit Week. Tomorrow I get to wear pajamas, Tuesday is tacky tourist day, Wednesday is around the world day, Thursday is sports day, and Friday is spirit day. Sometimes I think I have more fun than the kids!

Thinking - Even though it was in the 80s all week, I am so happy that it is officially fall. This is my favorite season. I can't wait to see the leaves change and feel the weather get colder.

Wanting - Can someone share their magic elves? I have essays to grade and a house to clean. Fun, fun, fun.

Needing - I have not been to the gym since school started. Ugh! I hate that I am so good at making excuses and putting off working out until tomorrow. I have got to change this about myself.

Treat - Have you been over to Lessons with Coffee to sign up for her SLANT box exchange? A monthly package with hand-picked items from a new friend -- I love participating! If you haven't signed up yet, click here to join in the fun.

Happy October,

His and Her Happies and Crappies (Week 38)

It's Friday night so that means it is time to look back on our week's -
The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up

Happies:
The week is over!!! We both thought it would never end.

My students have been working on an expository essay for the last two weeks. They worked so hard! I know the essays are not perfect, but they tried and that counts for a lot in my book.

One of my coworkers started a "You've Been Boo'ed" chain at school. Two people were "boo'ed", they had to "boo" two more, etc. Well I got "boo'ed" today so this weekend I will planning out who I will "boo" on Monday. Such a cute idea!

My Assistant Principal had Maple and Bacon doughnuts today at school. I had never had a doughnut with bacon before and I must say - YUM YUM!

I have had more energy this week so I had to take less naps.

Extra energy meant I could ride my bike more times than I drove this week.

The weather has been nice. It was good to feel summer temperatures again.

We have been so busy the last few months, it will be nice to have a relaxing, low-key weekend.

Crappies:
A horrible head cold is being shared around school and I think it might have started trying to weasel it's way into my world. Ugh!

I got a lot done today at work - well, I got a lot of conversations checked off the to-do list, but not a lot of paperwork items. Those are going to have to get done on Sunday.

I have not had time to knit at all this week. :(

I asked one of my customers to be more forthcoming with some information about deliveries he needs. He ignored me which resulted in extra work for the guys I work with and me. Why are people so inconsiderate?

What would make your happies and crappies list this week?

Happy Weekend (Whoooo hooo!!!),

Her Latest Readings

I have reviewed a few book series on the blog before...
I recently finished rereading a series of five novels that I wanted to share them with you all. They are written by -

Source
This is one of Nora Roberts' older series. It centers around a family of four young women named C.C., Amanda, Lilah, and Suzanna Calhoun. The fifth book is about a young girl named Megan who is quasi-adopted into the family. They were raised by the aunt, Coco, and they have a great aunt who comes in and out of the stories named, Colleen. Suzanna has two children named Adam and Jenny; Megan has a son named Kevin. The men who float into their lives are Trent, Sloan, Max, Holt, and Nathaniel. A few puppies enter the mix as well; their names are Fred, Suzie, and Dog.

The story is set in a coastal Maine town in the girls' home known as The Towers. This house was built by their grandfather and is a massive structure built on the sea cliffs. It is made of stone and referred to as a castle. The history of the house and the location add an extra dimension to the stories.

If the novels were only about these five women finding love, they would be good stories. However, in true Nora Roberts fashion she adds twists and suspense. This time it takes the shape of an old family legend about the girls' great-grandmother who was in a horrible marriage and who committed suicide. They are convinced that Bianca, the grandmother, is trying to help them find her lost emerald necklace that will allow them to save their home - her home - from ruin. Mixed into the four books seamlessly, the story of Bianca, her tragedy, the emerald necklace, and family loyalty and love, provide a suspenseful and delightful background. As much as I like reading how each woman and man found each other and fell in love, it is the background story of Bianca and her struggles that makes me want to read this series again and again.

I linked the books below to Barnes and Noble. If you like a little intrigue with your love stories, then I think you will like this series.

His: Living in America - My Fav Treats in Australia

Source
I have been back in America for about 6 weeks or so after spending a month with family and friends in Australia. I brought back some of my favourite treats but sadly the stash is looking pretty dire and that made me think about some of my favourite treats while I was in Australia. (If someone wants to help replenish my stock please let me know and I will be happy to send you a list and my mailing address.) Most of them are old favourites but there are a few new ones as well. So here are some of my new fav treats that I can't get in America.

Mr Schnitzel:
This is probably the one meal that I miss the most and crave on a constant basis. Chicken Schnitzel is a popular dish in Australia and is basically a piece of flattened breaded chicken that is deep fried. We found this place in Warner's Bay and decided to try it out. They sell a variety of chicken schnitzel wraps that start with a great big piece of chicken schnitzel; then they add your choice of toppings. Finally, it is all put in a wrap. It is by far the best wrap I will ever eat and we ended up eating there for lunch at least 3 times during our stay. If you are in the Warne'rs Bay area you have to check this place out!  Link to Facebook Page

Cupcake Espresso:
Cupcake bakeries seem to be a dime a dozen in America but there hasn't been any that have been memorable. My sister had cupcakes as her wedding cake and had been talking up about how good these things were. I was a little skeptical but I ended up trying a caramel cupcake and I was hooked. They were nice and moist and tasted much better than anything I had ever tried before. A few days later we were taken to the bakery. The hardest part was trying to select from all of the different flavours they had on offer. They even have ice cream flavours that I would love to try but I don't think they would travel well to my house. Link to website

Oporto:
Oporto is a fast food restaurant that sells grilled chicken burgers, wraps and grilled chicken pieces. I had never heard of this place before but it had locations all over the place. We finally got to try it in Sydney airport before we flew back to America. I am really picky when it comes to grilled chicken as it can be dry and tough if not done right or has been hanging around in a warming drawer too long. This was not the case with our meal as it was fresh, moist and full of flavour. We will definitely have to try this place again when we return to Australia.  Link to website

It was great to be able to enjoy some of my old favourites like the lollies, Cadbury chocolate, and Australian drinks but it was nice to try some new things as well. I look forward to being able to try them again on our next trip to Australia. Is there a favourite food that you miss from a trip abroad?

His and Her Never, Ever, Ever (Week 18)

Happy Tuesday one and all! We are linking up with some great ladies to play --

The Vintage Modern Wife: Never Ever Ever Link Up

**For those who are new to our blog - WELCOME - purple is Amanda, red is Sean, blue is for both of us. We hope it helps make it less confusing for our readers to know who is talking and sharing. :) **

We like the idea of having a theme for our never, evers. Since the weather has turned and we went to the fair this past weekend, we chose to have a fall theme this week.

Amanda will never, ever, ever...
-love any season as much as she loves fall. The leaves change, the weather changes, Halloween, Thanksgiving - so much to love.
Source
-want shorts and t-shirts back when there are cabled sweaters and scarves to wear.

-long for hot summer days when there are cool fall days full of hot tea and hot chocolate, fall breezes, and falling leaves to enjoy.
Source

Sean will never, ever, ever...
-have a fall season without allergies. My face breaks out and my nose runs. I hate it!

-like the shorter days. The longer days allow me to play disc golf, run, etc. Nights in fall come way too soon.

-enjoy looking for his discs in piles of leaves. They normally get buried and it can feel impossible to find them.

What will you never, ever, ever like/hate about fall?

Happy Fall,
