Her September SLANT Box

I participated in the second month of the SLANT Box exchange, organized by Jameson at Lessons with Coffee (and already signed up for October).

The SLANT Box Exchange

I absolutely love the SLANT process each month. I love getting matched up, making new friends, shopping for something special for my partner, and getting items that have been hand-picked just for me. This month's theme was "I Can't Believe I Forgot...", or -- things that you had not received yet or run out of that you might need for your classroom.

This month I was matched with Lisa over at Grade 4 Buzz. She is a teacher in Canada and we had so much fun comparing and contrasting US schools to Canadian schools. This is what she put together for me -

I was so surprised when I opened this box. It was packed FULL of awesome stuff. Each item I pulled out put a bigger and bigger smile on my face.

I got zebra print tape - similar to our Washi tape. A self-inking stamp of a smiley face. Post-its with a cute dog on them and post-its in the shape of flowers. I also got book clips for keeping my place while reading.

But wait - there's more! haha
She also included metallic, shiny smiley stickers (8th graders love getting a sticker on their paper - seriously, they are so funny when stickers are involved!), fun pens in cool colors, and some Expo markers (which I can never have enough of).

Finally, she included a book called M is for Maple: A Canadian Alphabet. Each letter is something unique to Canada. For example, "A is for Anne, known well in Avonlea". This one touched my heart and had me shedding a few tears.
Sean and I have been trying to have a baby for about 2 years now. We have seen a few doctors, run all the tests, and are working with a specialist to try to figure out what is going on. It has been a very difficult and emotional journey. I want so badly to be a mom and Sean wants to be a dad but it is not happening easily for us and we are sad. We are not giving up and we are not giving in; we know it will happen in God's time. I feel like Lisa including this book is a sign from God that we should be patient and positive, because one day I will use this beautiful book to teach my son or daughter the alphabet.

Thank you Lisa for everything! This box was perfect and you are an amazing person. I am so glad to know you and I am so grateful for all that you put together for me. Stay warm this winter and keep in touch!

Have you signed up for the SLANT box exchange yet? If not, what are you waiting for??

Happy Mailing,
