Her Recent Movie Choices

I am not one for watching movies at home; I'm not sure why but if I want to see a movie I would rather see it in theaters. If it leaves theaters before I can see it, then I usually don't bother. This week, however, I watched three movies --- that is a lot for me. What did I watch? I'm so glad you asked.

First was Men in Black 3, rented from Red Box.

I loved MIB 1 but not-so-much MIB 2. I didn't hold much hope for MIB 3 but I liked the previews so I decided to watch. I loved it! It was funny and it held my attention the entire time. It was a good combination of action and acting so I didn't get overwhelmed with action sequences, which I don't usually like. If the fourth movie in the series will be anything like the third, I am hopeful it gets the green light. (Though I did read online that Will Smith said he would not participate in a fourth movie so that makes me sad. How do you have a MIB movie without Will Smith??)

Second was The Heat, seen in theaters.

I am so grateful for a coworker who has the same taste in movies as I do. Sean is no longer stuck going to see movies he doesn't want to see. I am a majorly huge fan of both Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock so before I even knew what this movie was about I was ready to go see it. There was no disappointment! The entire theater was laughing out loud many, many times throughout the movie. I liked the plot line and Melissa and Sandra made a great team. My only negative about this movie was that there were scenes that I thought were too far-fetched or so incredibly unlikely to happen that I found myself rolling my eyes. But then they would make me laugh hysterically so all was forgiven.

Third was Pitch Perfect, rented from Red Box.

I know I am so late with this one. I am not sure why I waited so long to see this movie because I am a big fan of acapella music. I liked the acting and the plot line was good but I did not find myself laughing much during the movie. Certain lines were funny but I had heard so much about how hilarious this movie was that it was a bit of a let down. Not that it was bad --- it was a good movie --- I just wouldn't say it was a great movie.

What should my next Red Box rental be? I am open to suggestions!

Happy Movie Watching,

  1. Aw...bummed that you didn't LOVE Pitch Perfect - I guess it makes sense if a movie is so hyped up that it can be kind of a let down.

We just saw "Now you see me" in theatres and loved it. Also rented "Guilt Trip" from redbox and liked that one too!

    1. I will have to check those out. I have heard about Guilt Trip but wasn't sure it was any good. That might have to be my Saturday night movie. :)
