Her Weekend Recap (7/8/2013)

Kati and Kate are enjoying their summer so there is no GBU link-up today but that doesn't mean we can't have our own weekend recap here. Right??

Friday -- I needed another skein of yarn to finish a scarf for myself that I really want to take to Australia. I also needed yarn for another project that I am keeping hush-hush for the moment. ;) We went looking for dinner while we were out and stumbled upon a Brazilian restaurant that is now on our favorites list. I would never do justice describing this incredible place so here is what their website says...

Dining Experience

Churrasco

Meats Grilling at Tucanos Newport News Restaurant
We offer CHURRASCO (shoe-HAS-ko) style dining, where fresh meats and vegetables are grilled and brought directly to your table by our meat servers. While your Tucanos Cue remains green side up, our meat servers will continue to bring fresh selection of meats and vegetables to your table. When you have finished or would like a break, simply turn your Tucanos Cue red side up and our meat servers will skip your table.

Salad Festival

Salad Festival Pastas at Tucanos Newport News RestaurantThough sometimes our tasty meats take front stage, we are also famous for our Salad Festival. It features both Brazilian and American specialties, providing a fusion of distinct flavors, textures and colors. Festival selections include the Tucanos House Salad, hearts of palm, shrimp, seasonal fruit selections, fresh mozzarella, quail eggs and many other items. Hot selections such as seasoned rice, pastas, potatoes, stroganoff, feijoada (a traditional black bean stew) and freshly made soups including lobster bisque are also available on the salad festival to accompany the meat selections. New Salad festival selections are continually added to ensure freshness and variety.

I cannot tell you how amazing this place is. If you live in the area, or if you visit the area, you MUST check it out!!

Saturday was a day of what I called "Australia errands".  After talking about this trip for one and a half years, we are finally leaving for Oz next week. We needed some things for the trip like dress shirts for Sean (to go with his suit for the wedding), my dress for the wedding was ready to be picked up from the tailor (more details on that tomorrow), work out shirts (we are doing a 5K and some walking while we are down there - we promised each other!), we each picked some puzzle books for the plane rides, etc. All stuff that we needed but it was more time consuming than we expected. It feels good to have those things taken care of though.

Sunday  we had dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant with my parents. They had been away for a week visiting my sister, brother-in-law, and niece so it was good to see them again. It also gave us a chance to iron out some details about the Australia trip - they are puppy sitting while we are away.

All-in-all it was a good, but busy weekend. This week is all about cleaning/laundry and spending time with friends before we fly over the big pond. How did you spend your weekend?

Happy Monday,
