Today we are linking up with Melinda at West Metro Mommy for Super Saturday Snapshots.
Last month we drove to New York for a few days and stopped at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel along the way.
Right before the first tunnel is a gift shop, restaurant and fishing pier. You can see Virginia Beach in the distance about 3 miles away.
The fishing pier is always popular with anglers.
An information board about the bridge tunnel. The length of it is almost 18 miles.

This is the first of two channels. There is no land visible as the shore line is well over 10 miles away.
Have you ever been on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel or another long bridge?
Been on some long bridges the most memorable being the drive to Key West.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. Been on the bridge that goes across to Mackinaw Island.
Have a great day!
I have never even been to New York! It is definitely on my bucket list. The Chesapeake Bay figures into some of the books I read, those set in NYC and upstate NY. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite long bridge in these parts (California) include the Golden Gate Bridge.
Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
Lovely shots. Not very keen on long bridges or tunnels. Help.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been on any long bridges that I recall, but I've got the drive to Key West on my bucket list for that reason!
ReplyDeleteWe love the Bridge-Tunnel! I've always wanted to take my sons that way, but we are usually traveling with our camper (can't take propane canisters in the tunnels). Hope you enjoyed your trip!

I haven't been on a bridge anywhere near that long. I want to drive over the bridge between Copenhagen and Malmo one day. We have some long tunnels in Sydney of course.
ReplyDeleteHmmm long bridges or tunnels. I know I've been through one of the long road tunnels in Switzerland and I've driven across the Severn Bridge linking Gloustershire to Wales.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the wikipedia page for longest bridges in the world, the first Australian one to appear, way down in the list, is the new Macleay River Bridge that is part of the Pacific Hwy Kempsey bypass. Which means that I also drove over this one last Christmas!
The West Gate Bridge in Melbourne is probably the next longest that I've driven over.
I have never been and had to look up were it is, we drove from Washington DC to New York a few years ago. My favorite photo here is the long pier.
ReplyDeleteGreat rreading your blog
