Her What Works - No Notifications

Each Monday I share something that is working for me. It could be health related, a new product, or something completely random that I am loving. I just want to share what I have found that is working for me and will, hopefully, work for you too.

Sean made a cute button for it ---

Want to share in this idea with us? Grab the button, link back to our blog, and share away. I think this would be a pretty cool linkup, full of ways of making life easier, more fun, more enjoyable, more...whatever! :)

Today's What Works is something I did on a whim a few weeks ago, but has been a huge time saver for me. I am someone who has to eliminate all badge notifications as soon as they show up. Got mail? I have to check. Game notifications? I have to play. iMessage or Text? I have to read it. I just hate to see those little badge notifications.

Facebook was a big one for me. As soon as I saw the notification, I had to check it, which led to me checking my News Feed, commenting on posts, looking at pictures, etc. Next thing I know, 30 minutes has passed and I have lost time that I could have been doing other things for school or the house.

My solution was simple -  I turned the Notifications off. I turned off the Sounds, Badges, and Lock Screen notifications. Now, when I have time to check Facebook, I do. When I don't, there is no badge icon telling me that there is something for me to see. It's such a simple thing that is freeing up so much of my time. I love it!

What's working for you this week? Grab the button and link up.

Happy Monday,

  1. I did the same thing awhile back with notifications from Facebook. I'm one of those insane people that can't stand to see anything in my email mail box so getting a notification, I would always have to click on it, etc. Does indeed save time! I also take the time when I get some type of spam email to remove myself from their mailing list and if I see a pattern where I'm getting spam from the same email address, I add that address to my blocked ones. I've noticed I've cut down on a lot of spam those 2 ways.
