His Christmas Questionnaire

Everyone celebrates Christmas a little differently so we thought it would be fun to answer some Christmas questions. Today it is my turn to answer and Amanda will post her answers on Thursday. so make sure to come back to see her answers.

Hot Chocolate or Eggnog?
I love Hot Chocolate especially with caramel syrup. I have never tried eggnog, and I don't really know exactly what it is as wasn't sold in Australia when i lived there.

Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them underneath the tree?

Amanda wraps the gifts as she likes to make them look pretty. I don't wrap as I am certain the dog could do a better job. When we were little we didn't wrap much at all and the gifts were given to each other in the plastic store bags that they were purchased from.

Colored lights or white?
Coloured lights are definitely my favourite. White lights are too boring for my taste.

When do you decorate?
We normally decorate sometime during the Thanksgiving long weekend. It takes a few hours to pull everything out of the attic and get it set up. It's nice to be able to take our time to do it and not feel rushed.

Real or Fake Tree?
We have an artificial tree. Real trees were not big in Australia so I grew up with an artificial tree. I've heard some horror stories about real trees falling over and breaking ornaments so I don't think a real tree is the best option for us. Plus who wants to clean up pine needles every other day off the living room floor?

What Tops Your Tree?
Nothing right now as the tree toppers found in the stores here in VA are just horrible! Big W had some really nice Santa and Angel tree toppers when I worked there which were really nice and I thought it would be easy to find something similar here but sadly that is not the case. Maybe one day we will find something nice for the tree top.

Favorite Christmas Memories or Traditions?
I loved having Christmas in the summer time and is one of my favourite memories of Christmas as it is so different to how it is in Virginia. I used to love being able to go outside and play with our new toys or gifts outside, or if it was really hot going for a swim to cool off.

Do you remember your favorite gift as a child?
It would probably be the Radio Jet Hopper radio control car that I got from my aunt when I was about 10 years old.

Do prefer giving or receiving?
Definetely giving as I like to see the expression on people's faces when they open a gift that they really like. It's even better when it's something they aren't expecting.

What is your favorite Christmas song?
Right now it is Aussie Jingle Bells as it reminds me of how Christmas used to be spent before moving to Virginia.

Candy Canes. Yuck or Yum?
I love candy canes and they even have different flavours here like Smarties and Life Savers. There is not a candy cane I haven't liked yet (well maybe the Hershey's Chocolate ones, but Hershey's is nasty).

Favorite Christmas Movie?
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is one of my favourite movies. It is stupid humour, but sometimes that is just what I need to have a good laugh.

Do you shop online or at stores?
I am not a fan of crowds so I prefer to shop online. Amanda likes to take me to craft shows so recently a lot of gifts have come from there as they are unique gifts, plus it keeps the money in the community.

Photo Cards, Letter or Store Bought Card?
I am not big on cards and would rather spend the extra few dollars that a card would cost on a nicer gift.

  2. I have an angel kinda similar like that for my tree topper! My mom bought them years ago at Old Time Pottery, although I'm not even sure they even exist anymore!

And I'm totally with you on the artificial tree! I remember when I was a kid having a real tree, we had to water it all the time, and had to vacuum under it daily! It was way too much work! I'd rather pay about 70 bucks more to have one without all the hassle!

  3. Plus the fake tree is reusable. I hope to upgrade to a prelit tree in the near future as that always take forever to get right. Thanks for for stopping by and commenting. Hope you have a great Christmas.
